Workshop "Intro to Robotic and Kinetic Art" by VolvoxLabs
About workshop:
Join us for a workshop to discuss the history, aesthetics, and technologies around robotic and kinetic art. We will spend the first hour discussing the history of robotic and kinetic art, diving into the origins of the practices and surveying the key precedents in the field. We will then move into a discussion of the different technologies related to these practices and explore what it looks like to build installations — from the student scale all the way to the enterprise scale. Next, we will introduce concepts around experience design for kinetic installations and break down how Volvox Labs approaches its engineering and art practice. Finally, we will hold a hands-on session where participants will design their own kinetic art installations.
Requirements:
Please bring a laptop, as we will be doing some web browser-based activities. This is an introductory workshop – all backgrounds are welcome.
