WILL MACNEIL
(THE MILL)
ABOUT
Will MacNeil is a filmmaker and digital artist currently working as a Design Director at The Mill in London. Will designs, directs and leads a broad range of projects from good old-fashioned TV to online, games, interactive and experiential. One of Will’s recent personal projects, called Stroke-it, is an oil painting tool that works inside Houdini. He’s now developing a way to incorporate live data sources into Stroke-it using Houdini. Will’s talk looks at his weather painting system, D’istral. Will will go through the process behind acquiring live weather data and using it to create generative images, all within Houdini. This will include a quick look at Python scripting as well as massaging data values and then connecting them to a generative art system.
