Multifaceted and impossible to limit to just one category, the Valencian designer likes to define himself as a “creator of images”, who looks at the world while coming up with new shapes, fonts, comic strips and characters. Javier Mariscal carries out his work in all types of activities and disciplines: furniture design, interior decoration, graphic design, landscape painting, sculpture, illustration, multimedia design and animation.
Mariscal’s artistic proposal is a link with Mediterranean culture and envisions an understanding of the world and life that is easy to connect with. The light, friends, bars, streets, and joie de vivre are all sources of inspiration he keeps returning to.
Mariscal’s daring goes hand in hand with the great challenges he has taken on, from the mascot for the Barcelona Olympic Games to the global design of a luxury hotel, the illustration of the covers of the New Yorker, El País and the Japanese Apo or the creation of the animated film Chico & Rita with Fernando Trueba, winner of a Goya and nominated for the Oscars as best animated film.
